Meet Our Team
Meet Uversity

Our team understands the complex problems colleges and universities face.

Uversity (formerly Inigral) was founded in 2007 with the belief that students should love the software they use to connect with their college.

Founded by a former schoolteacher, Inigral was named one of the top 10 most innovative companies by Fast Company and ranked as a University of Business top Product.

"You guys are very innovative, not afraid to try new things. And it's been really cool to see the advancements in the app in just the short time we've been working with you."

Christine Deacons

First Year Experience Coordinator, Eastern Michigan University

Our Team is Your Team

In college, I was able to work as a bookkeeper while studying accounting, which really helped to reinforce what I was learning and how to use it in the real world. This gave me an appreciation for encouraging students to get out of the classroom and sign up for activities or internships that are in their area of study.

Lane Lillquist

VP of Engineering

What I do at Uversity

Through and through, I am a builder. My focus is our amazing product team and the technology that makes up the experiences we build. Prior to Uversity I worked on power grid automation and optimization at Open Systems International and got my B. S. in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota.

While working in Minneapolis, I got the opportunity to mentor the Wayzata High School FIRST Robotics Team. It was amazing going through the six week build season to bring a robot to life that works on a team of robots. Helping these students celebrate science and technology was a transformative experience that has forever made me a better engineer.

I work internally and externally to deliver great solutions for students and institutions. I studied Computer Science and Human-Computer Interaction at Stanford University, and I've worked previously in both user experience design and software engineering.

Tell us about an educational experience that changed your life

During my master program, I stumbled into a cross-listed introductory course at the brand new d.school (Hasso Plattner Institute of Design). The faculty there wasted no time pushing us engineering students (as well as the business school students who made up the other half of the class) out of our comfort zones and challenging us to approach problems with unfamiliar tools, collaborate intensely across disciplines, and trust our creative instincts in addition to our analytical ones. It was an experience that radically transformed how I viewed the problems of the world around me.

Brad Popiolek

Director of Product

What I do at Uversity

I collaborate with partner institutions, students, and the Uversity team to create the best possible product for our users. Prior to Uversity, I worked in product development at the Apollo Education Group. My passion for improving the college experience comes from working directly with students as an academic advisor and instructor at the University of Texas at Austin and the University of North Texas. I earned my Master's degree in Higher Ed Administration at Florida State University and studied Public Relations at the University of South Carolina.

Tell us about an educational experience that changed your life

As an undergraduate student, I was eager to participate in on-campus leadership opportunities as soon as I set foot on campus. I volunteered as a tour guide, tutor, and teaching assistant for the first-year seminar course. These experiences helped me make new friends, build a deeper connection to the university, and broaden my perspectives. Around graduation, I started to wonder why everyone didn't take advantage of these opportunities. I pursued a career in education to help students develop as young adults beyond the classroom and ultimately have a higher likelihood of graduating.

During my senior year of college, I had the opportunity to curate a photography exhibit for a children's educational museum. The exhibit, Children's Visions & Voices: Life After Apartheid in South Africa, showcased photos taken by local children to capture their impressions of that transitional time. Seeing art become a teaching tool that empowered American school children to have open dialogues about racism, equality and freedom was an astonishing and wonderful experience.

Tell us about an educational experience that changed your life

On my second year of college I had to take a Photography class as a requisite. There were two teachers who taught the class, one had the reputation of being really easy and the other of being really tough. I ended up signing up late for classes and took the class with the latter. I was scared at first but then I came to realize her strict and demanding style pushed me into delivering the best I could give as an art student. I was exhausted throughout the semester spending most weekends in the photo lab but I definitely learned to be critical about my work and became more dedicated to anything I did from then on.

Over the last 20 years I have established partnerships with hundreds of colleges and universities, mostly around enrollment management, marketing, and student success issues.

Tell us about an educational experience that changed your life

When I studied abroad at The University of Kent in Canterbury, England I took two courses which broadened my perspective on the USA. One was on cold war politics and the other was mid-century American literature. The context of the discussions continually surprised me because everyone brought views and experiences different to mine. I was fortunate to have been challenged this way and it made me want to get as much as possible out of my college experience. Throughout my career I've tried to impart the value of this and to create ways for today's college students to get the most out of their experience.

I come from a long line of educators, and the power of education was instilled in me long ago. While I was never a passionate student, I greatly credit my education with providing me opportunities which have led to an incredibly happy and fulfilling life. Without the support I received at home, I would not have experienced the richness I have today. I am committed to supporting students, staff, and university leaders in whatever ways I can, to give the greatest number of people the chance at a great life too.

I’ve always hated science until in 7th grade, when I had Ms. Fary. She had us identify tree specimen by drawing them in a composition book (which I've kept to this day) and for the first time, I realized that science could be fun if it was hands on, and I learned that I operate best in a hands-on environment.

Growing up, I believed that I was not capable of learning a foreign language. In a strange turn of events, I was sent to study language at the Defense Language Institute while serving in the U.S. Air Force. I spent a year and a half studying language full-time; this was one of the most challenging educational experiences of my life. Ultimately, I graduated with proficiency and spent the next two and half years working as Linguist. This experience taught me that I was capable of achieving any educational goal as long as I kept focus and committed - this lesson has absolutely changed the person I am today.
